All New 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
This morning at 6:30AM, EDT, Oshawa Assembly started to produce the first regular production Camaro since 2002. Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick drove the first regular production Camaro -- his Black Camaro SS -- off the line to the applause of the Oshawa Assembly employees. If you recall, Rick purchased this Camaro for $350,000 at the recent Barrett-Jackson Auction, with all the proceeds from the sale going to the American Heart Association in their fight against heart disease and stroke.

As this event was taking place in Canada, Troy Clarke was addressing a group of journalists back in Detroit participating in the first Camaro media event. During his opening remarks, Troy announced the official EPA-certified fuel economy numbers for the all new Camaro.

The new Camaro features design elements from the '69 Camaro and other Chevy performance cars are given a modern adaptation to the Camaro concept. The linear Proportions, short front overhang, longer rear overhang and powerful fender shapes all speak to its athletic prowess.

EPA Certified Fuel Economy for 2010 Camaro
3.6L V6 (LS and LT models)
With Manual Transmission: 17 City / 29 Highway
With Automatic Transmission: 18 City / 29 Highway

6.2L V8 (SS models)
With Manual Transmission: 16 City / 24 Highway
With Automatic Transmission: 16 City / 25 Highway

These fuel economy figures are higher than our initial estimates, and put the Camaro well ahead of similar sport models. Consider the distinct style; the standard features and technology; the 304 horsepower V6; and the $22,995 starting MSRP; and there is no other sport model that like this for less than $30,000. The Camaro media event continues through Friday, March 20, 2009. On that day, the media embargo will lift and automobile experts will provide their first drive impressions of the new Camaro.

New Chevy.com/Camaro
While Oshawa was producing their first batch of the all new Camaro, and journalists were enjoying their first drives, our digital team was busy introducing the new Chevy.com/Camaro consumer microsite.

The revamped website features new graphics, photos, vehicle comparison section and a vehicle configurator which includes pricing and on-the-fly graphic model updates to reflect the exact configured model/options. You can also view the new Transformers 2 trailer on the site.

Emails are being issued to our 800,000+ handraisers and 14,000 customers with early orders alerting them to the new site and the start of production.

Salesperson Training
On Tuesday, March 17, the new Chevrolet Launch Training Central website -- available through GM Training (search for course number B10CM.M10W) – will be updated with the Camaro detail book and salesperson tri-fold reference guide. The website will also provide information on enrolling in the upcoming 15-city Camaro Training Tour that starts in early April.

Camaro Unveiling Activity May 6, 2009
Orders are already at the plant scheduled to be built and shipped to you for the Camaro unveiling activity. These units are not showing as in system or in bound units because they are ordered under a special account. As the units are produced and released for shipment, they will be reassigned to a dealership and then shipped. Only then will a dealer see an inbound unit on their reports.

As a reminder, these preordered units will be in one of four models and colors and all of them equipped with the award winning 3.6L V-6 that achieves 29 MPG HWY and 304 Horsepower. These units are over and above the initial estimated retail production guide numbers previously provided, and will be invoiced as they are assigned to dealers. The assignment of vehicles will be at random and the dealership cannot make any changes as the units will have already been built.

It is expected every dealership will have at least one unit in time for the reveal on May 6, and in some cases, well before that date. Although we would prefer you to hold this unit until May 6, it is a dealership retail unit, and there are no restrictions to delivering it before May 6.

More information regarding this activity and the availability of point of sales material will be provided in the near future.

Conclusion

This is a great opportunity for you to take advantage of the most anticipated product arrival and create excitement on your showroom floor. There is no better time than now for this 21st Century Sports Car. Welcome back Camaro.
